Me in 2026

written by Momo on 2026-05-17

You might have noticed that there was no further action on this page last year. Bad stuff happened in my life and there were more important things to do than music. I guess that's life. But I try to do this differently this year.

One thing that happened is that I got a new unit. I now own a Roland Tr8S and it is currently the new centerpiece of my live setup. The poor T8 has been reduced to being "just" a 303 but well, we se how this goes, right?

New dates! You can see me at Rockharz Open Air somewhere on the camp ground, like every year. That's what's happening anyway. But: this weekend I got confirmed that I have a stage slot to play at the GPN24. No "illegal" lawn rave with a strange guy in his camping chair. No, I can play in the DJ booth next to the food tent on a real PA. I don't have the final time slot yet, so stay tuned!

Anyway, one thing that was very interesting last year was Looptober. For those who don't know: Throughout the entire month you create a little loop every day. My intention was to take these as ideas to put them into song shape later. Well, for private reasons, Looptober was kinda short for me, I think I made 4 loops before shit hit the fan for me. But one of them made it into a song form which had been released earlier this year on my Funkwhale. And I started to work on a seccond one. Maybe I get it done after GPN?

Ah and Funkwhale... well, I have enough with its kinks and quirks. Each update breaks something, each server reboot lets a few containers crash during startup which always means manual remediation. If you wonder where all the MP3 tags went: Funkwhale lost them during an update. Currently it has a bug that causes funkwhale to not properly close database connections, which means after it reaches the database max connections threshold, the whole thing stops working. I remediate it by restarting the container via cron every 24 hours so that it closes all database connections. But this is bullshit and I think I have enough of this. Currently I'm looking for a new solution to provide music to me and everybody who is interested in it. Faircamp is one of the candidates and I think it's the solution (if I get it running properly in my environment). So yeah, things will change on that front.

Let's make this year better than the last one, shall we?

-Update!-

My slot at GPN24 is now official, I'll playing at Saturday, 06.06.2026 at 18:00 local time. For details, see the live page.
