Summer so far

written by Momo on 2025-07-19

Wow, we are in the middle of the summer and stuff happened!

So, everything started for this year with GPN23 in Karlsruhe which was great. I always feel welcome and at home around other hackers and this year I was able to properly play in the park outside of the conference center. Mostly because this time I had my chair with me but also due to the fact that it was not raining this year. I started a good set and played until I made the T-8 crash with the button combo of doom after about 50 minutes. That's where the fadeout at the end comes from. No outro on this one, sorry. But people were quite happy and gave me compliments and even a Mate to drink. If you want to listen to it, here: https://funkwhale.apps.phentr0pulse.de/library/tracks/8/

The next day I saw someone fiddling around with what looked like a modular synth setup on a breadboard or something and like half an hour later I saw the same guy with his portable setup sitting in the DJ booth between the food tents jamming the shit out of his setup. And that was when I decided that next year, I'm gonna play a set there with my synths. And hopefully one of my friends snags a picture from me or two because damn!

Second stop was Rock Harz Open Air where I usually attend the shows and play a set at camp side when I feel like it. Well, this year we camped right in front of the main strage, maybe 250m away. Which means there was no way playing any music between 10am and 2am (when the last band finished their set). I made a small jam in the morning when one of the camps started playing techno schlager stuff and I thought "Hey, bad techno? I can do that, too!". But then I forgot to hit record and honestly it was not very good at all so nope, no Rock Harz Jam this year.

And those were the main events for this summer. I try to attend MRMCD this year but I'm not sure if I can make it work with my job and my family.

What to look out for? Well, a few days ago I stubled across a Synth/Tracker/DAW-thingy I already fiddled around with years ago: Sunvox. So I decided to install and do something with it. I think this will be more of a song-like thingy for the Monotonic album but we will see. If you want to see Sunvox for yourself, check it out: https://www.warmplace.ru/soft/sunvox/
